ABOUT
Megumi Toyama is a New York City–based vocalist and vocal coach working with singers and performers across a range of styles. Her teaching focuses on building reliable technique, pitch accuracy, breath coordination, and expressive clarity, helping students develop a confident and sustainable relationship with their voice.
She currently teaches voice at School of Rock NYC and works privately with children, teens, and adults. Her students have been accepted into selective programs including Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and the High School Jazz Academy at Lincoln Center.
Originally from Japan, Megumi began studying piano at the age of three and later earned a Master’s degree in Music, with a concentration in Jazz vocal performance, from the City College of New York.
As a performer, she has appeared on stages including the United Nations Youth Assembly and the Apollo Theater. She was also a finalist at the McDonald’s Gospel Fest and performed with the Harlem Japanese Gospel Choir at the National Action Network’s Keepers of the Dream Gala.

Alongside her teaching, Megumi maintains an active music practice and has released original recordings, including her debut single Swirl and the EP Gravity. She is a Hometown Ambassador of Tamba Sasayama City, Japan, and continues to share her cultural roots through music and education.
